Program Overview

HVAC/R - Certificate of Completion

The HVAC/R - Certificate of Completion program is designed for students who choose the certificate option in HVAC/R. The certificate program requires approximately a year and a half to complete.

Requirements

Students must receive a final grade of C- or better in all required HVAC courses/Technical Requirements and achieve a cumulative grade-point average of at least 2.0. A grade of C- or better is required in ENGL 1110G Composition I and designated Mathematics courses.

Course List

The following courses are required for the certificate program:

• OETS 103: Technical Career Skills (4 credits)
• or ENGL 1110G: Composition I (3-4 credits)
• Choose one of the following:
  • OETS 104: Basic Mathematics for Technicians (4 credits)
  • OETS 118: Mathematics for Technicians (3 credits)
  • MATH 1215: Intermediate Algebra (3 credits)
  • MATH 1220G: College Algebra (3 credits)
  • MATH 1250G: Trigonometry & Pre-Calculus (4 credits)
• Technical Requirements:
  • HVAC 100: EPA Clean Air Act: Section 608 (1 credit)
  • HVAC 101: Fundamentals of Refrigeration (4 credits)
  • HVAC 102: Fundamentals of Electricity (4 credits)
  • HVAC 103: Electrical and Mechanical Controls I (4 credits)
  • HVAC 113: Job Shadowing (1 credit)
  • HVAC 205: Commercial Refrigeration Systems (4 credits)
  • HVAC 207: Residential Air Conditioning Systems (4 credits)
  • HVAC 209: Residential Heating Systems (4 credits)
  • HVAC 210: Commercial Air Conditioning and Heating Systems (4 credits)
  • HVAC 211: Heat Pump Systems (4 credits)
  • HVAC 213: Practicum (3 credits)

The total credits required for the certificate program are 44-45.
