Urban Mining Program
The Urban Mining program is a postgraduate course aimed at expanding participants' knowledge in the field of secondary raw material recovery from municipal and industrial waste, with a focus on processing metal-bearing waste and recovering selected elements for reuse. The program covers topics related to life cycle analysis of materials, sustainable development strategies, waste stream management, processing techniques and technologies, and legal regulations regarding resource management in relation to waste management as a deposit of useful components.
Program Description
The program is designed for graduates of higher education in technical, technological, economic, or natural science fields who want to develop their competencies in the area of modern secondary raw material recovery technologies. The program is suitable for a wide range of recipients, including workers in the waste management and recycling sector, environmental engineers, chemical and material technology engineers, public administration workers dealing with municipal economy, entrepreneurs and managers interested in modern secondary raw material recovery technologies, and graduates of technical studies.
Program Structure
The program is divided into three thematic blocks. The first block covers economic, financial, and legal issues, the second block focuses on technological aspects, and the third block features lectures by experts working in the secondary raw material processing industry. The program also includes discussions on life cycle analysis of materials, sustainable development strategies, waste stream management, processing techniques and technologies, and legal regulations regarding resource management.
Graduate Profile
Graduates of the Urban Mining program are highly qualified specialists in the field of secondary raw material recovery. They possess interdisciplinary knowledge covering modern recycling technologies, waste stream management methods, and basic knowledge of legal regulations regarding resource management. Graduates are able to analyze and implement innovative solutions in the field of secondary raw material recovery from municipal and industrial waste, evaluate the life cycle of materials and the environmental footprint of products, manage projects related to waste management and recycling, apply modern secondary raw material recovery technologies, interpret and implement legal regulations and EU strategies regarding closed-loop economy, and cooperate with the public and private sectors as well as ecological organizations in the field of sustainable resource use.
Admission Requirements
- Completed higher education at the engineering or master's level.
- The program is open to graduates of technical, technological, economic, or natural science fields.
Tuition Fees
- 5,000 z (2,500 z per semester).
Program Duration
- 2 semesters (March 2026 - February 2027).
Limit of Places
- Minimum 20 people, maximum 35 people.
Additional Information
- Classes are held on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays).
- A detailed schedule of classes will be provided in advance.
- The program includes exams in selected subjects and a final project defense.
Required Documents
- Application form.
- Copy of the diploma of completion of higher education (certified by the university "for compliance with the original") - the original is available for inspection.
- Declaration of familiarization with the Regulations of postgraduate studies at AGH.
- Confirmation of payment of the admission fee in the amount of 100 z.
- Confirmation of payment for postgraduate studies for the first semester, no later than 14 days before the start of didactic classes.
