Program Overview

Introduction to the Program

The University offers a unique program in Creating Virtual Spaces and Games, which is a first-cycle, stationary studies program. This program is a joint effort between the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Humanities, aiming to educate specialists ready to work in the broadly understood video game industry and the immersive technology sector, such as VR and AR.

Program Description

The Creating Virtual Spaces and Games program combines knowledge from computer science, computer graphics, media theory, narrative design, and user psychology. It assumes an even development of hard skills (programming, design, use of AI in games) and soft skills (teamwork, communication, production management). The education is carried out in cooperation between the Faculty of Computer Science and the Faculty of Humanities, with the participation of industry experts and artistic staff from the Academy of Fine Arts and the University of Education in Krakow.

Target Audience

The studies are addressed to individuals who want to develop in the sector of games and virtual spaces, combining interests in computer science, design, art, and digital culture. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of the program, the field is open to both people with knowledge in the field of exact sciences and humanists and artists.

Thematic Scope

The program includes:

  • Psycho-physiology of vision and visual perception
  • Creating narratives and quest design
  • 2D/3D graphics and animation
  • Game design for various platforms (PC, mobile, consoles, VR)
  • Basics of UX/UI and world-building
  • Use of artificial intelligence in game design
  • Production and marketing aspects of games
  • Intellectual property protection and copyright law in the creative industry

Within the program, 150 hours of professional practice are planned, which is 50% more than the statutory minimum.

Career Prospects

Graduates of the program will be prepared to work in teams creating computer games and immersive applications as designers, programmers, graphic designers, producers, testers, screenwriters, or UX specialists. They will also gain competences to work in the digital entertainment industry, education, interactive marketing, and digital culture.

By choosing this new program, students gain not only comprehensive preparation for work in the game development industry but also the opportunity to cooperate with experts and develop their own projects in an environment that supports creativity and innovation.
