Introduction to the Program

The "Nowe technologie w projektowaniu kultury" (New Technologies in Culture Design) program is a second-degree study program that presents a new vision of cultural studies. This vision is not limited to describing existing cultural phenomena but is open to contemporary manifestations of pop culture, new media, and the digital world, shaping itself at the intersection of humanities and technical sciences.


Program Description

The program is designed for students who expect a modern approach to studying culture and pop culture in all their manifestations: performative, digital, convergent, or intermedial. The program includes practical and theoretical courses, such as fashion studies, anthropology of spectacle, workshops on creating audiovisual works, workshops on designing Virtual Reality applications for promoting culture, crowdfunding and crowdsourcing practices, and cultural trends in technology.


Target Audience

The program is intended for graduates of first-degree studies (bachelor's and engineering) in social sciences, humanities, and technical fields. It is particularly suited for graduates with interests related to modern trends in culture, with a special focus on the impact of modern and innovative technologies on the shaping of new and transformation of old forms and artistic activities.

Teaching Methods

Once a month, there is a "Technologiczny Czwartek" (Technological Thursday) event, which complements the theoretical aspect of the studies with practical activities. These events include workshops on using new technologies in promoting culture, such as designing Virtual Reality applications, creating films, and learning how to obtain funds for innovative projects and promote them on social media.


Profile of the Graduate

The program aims to educate multidisciplinary specialists with competencies that significantly exceed the stereotypical profile of a cultural studies graduate. The graduate will possess:


  • Basic knowledge of history, anthropology, and philosophy of culture, as well as methodology of cultural research
  • In-depth knowledge of innovative areas, such as anthropology of spectacle, alternative culture, pop culture, performative arts, contemporary music market, cultural trends in designing new technologies, artistic activities on the internet and in cyberspace, computer games and video, or fashion exhibition
  • Practical skills in digitalization of culture, creative writing, photography and graphic design, ambient marketing, organization of artistic events, promotion of culture, text translation, fundraising in community collections, creation of audiovisual works, or management of content creation in large transmedia networks
