Introduction to the Program

The Chinese Government Scholarship "High-Level Research Student" project is a scholarship program provided by the National Scholarship Council to outstanding students to study in China. The program covers tuition fees, on-campus accommodation, living expenses, and comprehensive medical insurance fees.

School Overview

Hohai University, founded in 1915, is a key university directly under the Ministry of Education, with a 110-year history of education. The university is located in the Yangtze River Delta, one of the most economically developed and open regions in China. It has three campuses: Xikang Road Campus, Jiangning Campus, and Changzhou Campus.

Project Introduction

The Chinese Government Scholarship "High-Level Research Student" project is designed to select and recommend excellent students to study in China. The program is based on the principle of "personal application, college recommendation, expert review, and merit-based admission." The final admission decision is made by the National Scholarship Council.

Training Objectives and Graduation Requirements

The training objective of the program is to cultivate international students with a good international perspective, who can apply and develop their knowledge, skills, and methods in their field of study worldwide. The program has a flexible academic system, with a standard academic period of 3 years for master's students and 4 years for doctoral students.

To graduate, students must complete all the required courses, pass the thesis defense, and meet the requirements of the degree. According to the regulations of the Ministry of Education, international students who graduate from English-taught master's and doctoral programs must have a Chinese language proficiency of at least level 3 of the International Chinese Language Proficiency Standards.

Application Conditions

To apply for the program, applicants must:

1. Be non-Chinese citizens, physically and mentally healthy, and comply with Chinese laws and regulations.
2. Have a bachelor's degree or equivalent for master's programs, and a master's degree or equivalent for doctoral programs.
3. Have excellent academic performance, and be under the age of 35 for master's programs and under 40 for doctoral programs.

Application Time

The application period is from January 1, 2026, to February 15, 2026 (Beijing time).

Application Procedure

1. Applicants submit their applications through the online application system of Hohai University before February 15, 2026.
2. The International Education College reviews the applications before February 26, 2026.
3. The colleges organize expert reviews of the applications before March 5, 2026.
4. The university conducts online interviews before March 13, 2026.
5. The university issues pre-admission notices before March 20, 2026.
6. Applicants submit their applications to the Chinese Government Scholarship website before March 27, 2026.
7. The National Scholarship Council reviews and determines the admission list.
8. The university notifies applicants of their admission status and issues formal admission notices and other documents.
