Introduction to the Innovative Technical Textiles Master of Science Program

The Innovative Technical Textiles Master of Science Program is a graduate program under the Textile Engineering Department, providing education only at the Master of Science level. This program is designed for candidates who have graduated from a four-year undergraduate program in different disciplines.

General Information

  • The program requires an ALES score (Quantitative) of at least 65 and an undergraduate GPA of 2.30/4.00.
  • Student admission to the program is carried out according to ITU Graduate Regulations and Senate Principles.
  • There is no Scientific Preparation required for this program.
  • The quota for the program is determined as 30 people, considering the demand from textile companies' R&D centers.
  • This program is supported by the Istanbul Textile Raw Materials Exporters Association (ITHIB).

Scope of the Program and Related Disciplines

  • The program has an interdisciplinary structure, including applications of different disciplines such as Materials, Polymer, Nanotechnology, and Textile Engineering in technical textiles.
  • The difference between this program and other master's programs in Materials, Polymer, and Nanotechnology is that it includes education and curriculum for the use of technical textile products in design, development, production, and testing processes.
  • Course contents are designed for technical textile applications, including innovative and functional materials and products used in technical textiles, polymeric biomaterials, nanomaterials, and composites, and high-performance textile materials.

Vision and Mission

  • Vision: To be a program that has knowledge about product design and development processes in the field of innovative technical textiles, can raise solutions for technological problems, train manpower to lead developments, and ensure its continuity.
  • Mission: To train manpower with knowledge and equipment that can contribute to the competitiveness of our country and lead interdisciplinary studies in the field of innovative technical textiles.

Program Educational Objectives

  • Having detailed information about all processes from raw material to final product in different fields of innovative technical textiles.
  • Having the necessary knowledge and equipment to solve technological problems in the field of innovative technical textiles and lead future developments.
  • Having the ability to design, develop, and evaluate innovative and unique technical textile products and evaluate product quality depending on the area of use.
  • Having the potential to create a competitive advantage in their professions thanks to the interdisciplinary perspective offered by the program.
  • To raise graduates who have the ability to transmit current developments and their studies in the field of innovative technical textiles in their own language or foreign language in written, verbal, and visual form, by supporting with quantitative and qualitative data and by using information and communication technologies.
