Program Overview
Introduction to the Program
The ITU Turkish Music State Conservatory offers a unique program aimed at training specialists in the field of Turkish music, with a focus on instrument and voice performance. The program's primary objective is to educate students who can evaluate, develop, and represent Turkey's traditional music heritage, both nationally and internationally.

General Information About the Program
- Students applying to the Performance Major Art Department Instrument-Voice Thesis/Non-Thesis Master's Program must meet the application requirements of the ITU Social Sciences Institute and undergo a two-stage entrance examination, consisting of a written and an oral/interview exam.
- The written exam questions are determined by the program's executive board members and applied by the program's admission committee. In the oral/interview exam, the candidate is asked to perform instrumentally or vocally, depending on their application area.
- Students accepted into the program must obtain a minimum score determined by the ITU Rectorate in the central foreign language exam or the foreign language exam conducted by the ITU School of Foreign Languages to be able to enroll in courses.
- The program is conducted in Turkish and English, with a 70% Turkish and 30% English course requirement. 50% of the total credits are compulsory, and the remaining 50% consists of elective courses.
- In the Performance Major Art Department Instrument-Voice Thesis Master's Program, 12 credits out of the total 24 credits are compulsory, and 12 credits are elective.
- In the Performance Major Art Department Instrument-Voice Non-Thesis Master's Program, 18 credits out of the total 36 credits are compulsory, and 18 credits are elective.
- Students can take 50% of the total credits from their own program and the remaining credits from the ITU Social Sciences Institute's graduate programs or other universities' graduate or doctoral programs, with the approval of their advisor.
- The ITU Social Sciences Institute Performance Major Art Department Instrument-Voice Thesis/Non-Thesis Master's Program is conducted in accordance with the "ITU Graduate Education Regulations".
