Program Overview

The BIM (Building Information Modeling) Application Training Program is a comprehensive course designed to provide participants with in-depth knowledge of BIM processes, applications, and implementation. The program is coordinated by Prof. Dr. Esin Ergen Pehlevan and is offered online via Zoom.

Program Objectives

The primary objective of the program is to equip participants with fundamental knowledge of BIM, its applications, and implementation. The program aims to provide a detailed understanding of BIM processes, standards, and terminology, as well as hands-on experience with BIM software, including Revit, Navisworks, and ACC.

Program Structure

The program consists of three modules, and this course is the first module of the BIM Expert Certificate Program. Upon successful completion of this program, participants will be eligible to enroll in the next module, BIM Application Training.

Target Audience

The program is designed for engineering, architecture, and urban planning students, as well as professionals who have completed their undergraduate or graduate studies in these fields. Participants do not require prior knowledge of Revit or Navisworks to enroll in the program.

Program Content

The program covers a wide range of topics, including:

• BIM definition, standards, and terminology
• BIM applications and software
• Global BIM usage and trends
• BIM scope and basic applications
• LOD (Level of Development) and Level of Information Need
• IFC standard and IFC file creation
• ISO 19650 and its integration with BIM processes
• Creating intelligent elements (families) in BIM
• BIM Implementation Plan (BEP)
• Global BIM application examples and case studies
• BIM transition process
• Participant-led BIM application (using Revit for static modeling and coordinate delivery)

Program Schedule

The program is offered four times a year, starting in September, November, February, and April. The upcoming program schedule is as follows:

• 39th Education: April 18, 2026 - April 25, 2026 - May 2, 2026
• Duration: 3 weeks
• Total hours: 21 hours
• Class days: Saturdays
• Class hours: 10:00-18:00
• Location: Online via Zoom

Program Fees

The program fee is 25,500 TL + 10% VAT. As a state university, the program is subject to the Döner Sermaye letmesi regulations, and no discounts can be applied to individuals or organizations.

Instructor Profiles

Prof. Dr. Esin Ergen Pehlevan

Prof. Dr. Esin Ergen Pehlevan is a professor at the Department of Civil Engineering, ITU. She received her undergraduate degree from ITU, her master's degree from ITU's Construction Management Program, and her Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University. She is a founding member of the buildingSmart Turkey executive board and the education working group coordinator.

Mak. Müh. Serkan ELBOLLAR

Mak. Müh. Serkan ELBOLLAR is a BIM consultant with extensive experience in project management and BIM implementation. He has worked on numerous high-profile projects, including the Takent Airport, Istanbul Kuyumcukent Shopping Center, and Istanbul Atatürk Airport Revizyon leri.

Ara. Gör. Neziha Ylmaz

Ara. Gör. Neziha Ylmaz is a research assistant at the Department of Civil Engineering, ITU. She received her undergraduate degree from ITU and her master's degree from ITU's Construction Management Program. She has worked as a BIM engineer on the Ümraniye-Ataehir-Göztepe Metro Project and is currently pursuing her Ph.D. at ITU.

Mimar Onur ERKAN

Mimar Onur ERKAN is a BIM expert with extensive experience in architectural design and BIM implementation. He has worked on numerous high-profile projects, including the Türkmenistan Snr Güvenlik Enstitüsü, Türkmenistan Snr Güvenlik dare Binas, and Istanbul Uluslararas Finans Merkezi Vakfbank Genel Merkezi ve Tesisleri.

Mak. Müh. Tolga AK

Mak. Müh. Tolga AK is a BIM modeler/BIM engineer with experience in mechanical engineering and BIM implementation. He has worked on numerous projects, including the ProCS Professional Construction Solutions firm, and is currently working as a BIM modeler/BIM engineer at Hitachi Enerji.
