Program Content

The program is delivered online and consists of modules taught during the autumn and spring semesters. Students will learn through a blend of lectures, workshops, hands-on activities, reflective practice, and guided research.


Year 1

Spring Semester
  • Environmental Geospatial Data Analysis (M) (GY5021): Trains students to use Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software to analyze environmental and other geospatial data.
  • Urban Ecosystem Services (M) (GY5031): Explores the range of services provided by ecosystems in urban settings.
  • Future Focused Professional Portfolio 1 (MN5152): Allows students to demonstrate independent and self-determined learning by creating their own portfolio.
Summer/Autumn Semester
  • Climate Hazards (M) (GY5022): Examines the nature, extent, frequency, risk, and potential for adaptation and mitigation against a range of climate hazards.
  • Sustainability (M) (GY5032): Explores sustainability from a variety of environmental and societal contexts.
  • Future Focused Professional Portfolio 2 (MN5141): Gives students the opportunity to create a portfolio demonstrating the development of reflective practice and evidence-based excellence.

Entry Requirements

  • Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honor, grade 2 (2:2) in any subject.
  • The university may shortlist and invite applicants to an interview.
  • Applicants should have at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
