Introduction to the Professional Diploma in Process Safety
The Professional Diploma in Process Safety is a part-time, one-year program designed for professionals working in the bulk pharma-chem, biopharma, or process industries. This diploma equips engineers and scientists with the knowledge and skills to manage process safety risks in complex industrial environments.

Fees
The fee for EU students is €5,250. Please note that international study visas are only available to students studying full-time in Ireland, and this program does not qualify for a study visa.
Entry Requirements
Applicants should hold a bachelor's degree (NFQ Level 8) with at least a second-class honor, grade 2 (2:2) in a relevant discipline, and have at least 2 years' experience in the bulk pharma-chem, biopharma, or process industries.
Program Content
The program consists of four modules:
- Commitment to Process Safety (SA6001) - Teaches students the importance of consistently fostering and championing a commitment to process safety throughout the organization.
- Understanding Process Safety Hazards and Risks (SA6011) - Helps students understand process safety-related hazards and risks.
- Managing Process Safety Risks (SA6002) - Focuses on managing risk through prudent operation and maintenance of processes, managing changes to those processes, and preparing for, responding to, and managing incidents.
- Improving Process Safety by Learning from Experience (SA6012) - Involves monitoring and acting on internal and external sources of information to improve process safety efforts.
Assessment
Students are assessed through in-semester assignments, end-of-semester on-campus written exams, and a work-related process safety project (over both semesters).
Graduate Profile
Graduates of the Professional Diploma in Process Safety will possess expertise in process safety, allowing them to contribute meaningfully to the maintenance and improvement of process safety standards in their workplaces.
