  • Monthly double classes or seminars are held in various locations, including Dublin, Cork, Youghal, and Limerick.
  • Students have the option to progress to the Diploma in Genealogy (NUI) and the MA History of Family.

Program Content

Year 1

  • Autumn Semester:
    • History of Family I: Theory and Practice (HI2101) introduces key concepts, theories, and methodologies in the history of family.
    • Sources and methods for the History of Family (HI2131) explores key sources and methods for locating and obtaining access to them.
  • Spring Semester:
    • History of Family II: Migration and Communities (HI2102) introduces concepts, sources, and approaches to the study of family history in the context of migratory patterns and community formation.
    • Research Methods (HI2132) introduces key methods and approaches to research in the history of family.

Entry Requirements

  • Applications are welcome from mature students (typically aged 23+ on January 1st of the year of registration).
  • Applicants should have basic IT skills and be confident using the internet for research.
  • Each applicant is assessed individually based on academic qualifications, work experience, motivation, and potential.
  • International students must meet specific requirements, including English language competency.

Fees

  • EU students: 900 per annum
  • Non-EU students: 2,100 per annum
  • Annual fees are billed by semester, with options for a monthly payment plan.
