The University of Limerick offers a Bachelor of Science in Product Design and Technology.
Program Overview
The program is designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to succeed in the field of product design and technology.
Admission Requirements
- The program requires a portfolio submission, which is assessed on a pass/fail basis.
- Applicants must also achieve the required CAO points, which were 431 in 2024.
- Mature students are welcome to apply and must submit a personal statement and accompanying documents to the Mature Student Office by March 1st.
Portfolio Requirements
- The portfolio should include creative work, such as drawings, paintings, or projects that demonstrate the applicant's skills and interests.
- A mini-project is also available for applicants who do not have enough work for a portfolio.
- The mini-project brief is to design solutions for the "school bag of the future."

Program Structure
- The program consists of classes from 9-5 every day, with a mix of design studio classes, lectures, labs, and workshops.
Application Process
- Applicants must submit their portfolio by the closing date, which is 5pm on 24th March for students who submitted their CAO form on the 1st February.
- Late submissions are accepted from 5th May to 19th May.
- Change of mind applicants can submit their portfolio from 2nd July to 9th July.
Mature Student Applications
- Mature students must apply through the CAO and submit a personal statement and accompanying documents to the Mature Student Office by March 1st.
- Suitable candidates will be called for an interview and must bring samples of their creative work.
