Program Overview
Electives LM002 Bachelor of Arts
The Bachelor of Arts program at the University of Limerick offers students a wide range of elective subjects to choose from.
Introduction to the Program
To introduce students to the program, a video is available that provides an overview of the Bachelor of Arts degree.
Choosing Electives
Students are required to choose four subjects from the available options to study in their first year. The subjects are grouped, and students cannot choose two subjects from the same group.
- Psychology or German or Geography
- English
- Digital Culture and Communications
- Gaeilge or Economics
- French
- Linguistics with TESOL or Mathematics
- Sociology
- Politics and International Relations
- Public Administration and Leadership or Spanish
- History or Music and Dance
Students will study these subjects for the whole of their first year. When choosing year 1 subjects, it is essential to check the program page and verify what the groups are like from years 2 to 4, as they may change slightly. Students will be keeping two subjects from year 2, so they need to ensure that they have at least two subjects that do not clash.
Notes on Subject Selection
- French, German, and Spanish are available at both beginners and post-leaving certificate levels.
- Places in Psychology are not limited for the first year, but there are only 30 places available for years 2-4. These places are allocated on a competitive basis based on semester 1 grades.
