DU Master of Social Work | Online

The University of Denver's Online MSW program is designed for aspiring social workers who are ready to advance equity across all communities. This program is ranked #1 in Colorado and #11 in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.

Program Details

• The program offers two tracks: Advanced Standing and Traditional.
• Students can earn their degree in as few as 18 months for Advanced Standing or 21 months for Traditional.
• The program features flexible field placement options, including virtual and in-person agency settings for Traditional MSW students.
• No GRE or work experience is required for admission.

Concentrations and Start Dates

• The program offers 2 concentrations.
• There are 4 start dates available: January, March, June, and September.

Curriculum and Faculty

• The program is led by expert faculty who teach students to see individuals and systems through the lens of power, privilege, and oppression.
• Students learn to challenge these systems at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels.
• The curriculum includes a blend of live online classes and self-paced course content.
• Students apply concepts and theories learned in online classes during field internships.

Field Internships

• Traditional MSW students can complete 200 hours of their field internship through a virtual field experience option.
• The remaining hours must be completed through an in-person community agency setting.

Career Support and Alumni Network

• Students have access to career support and the University of Denver's global alumni network.
• MSW graduates pursue roles as behavioral health clinicians, psychiatric social workers, community and economic developers, mental health counselors, and more.

Admission Requirements

• Qualification for the Advanced Standing track requires a BSW.
• Students interact with faculty 1:1 during live sessions or office hours.
• The program requires a holistic understanding of social work principles through a blend of live online classes and self-paced course content.
