Clinical Behaviour Change Program
The Clinical Behaviour Change program is a comprehensive course that explores the application of behaviour change procedures across a wide range of client populations and behaviours of concern. This includes intellectual and developmental disabilities, addictions, common childhood behavioural problems, and gerontology.
Course Description
Emphasizing the critical role of assessment and understanding contextual factors, the course explores interventions that enhance the quality of life of clients across diverse populations. The program delves into advanced concepts in behaviour analysis, including reinforcement, punishment, behaviour, response class, socially mediated contingencies, rule-governed behaviour, contingency-shaped behaviour, and derived stimulus relations.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of this course, students will be able to:
- Know and understand advanced concepts in behaviour analysis
- Explain how behaviour principles contribute to behaviour assessment and intervention in clinical and organizational settings
- Identify and understand behaviour change procedures used in clinical settings
- Explain advanced behaviour intervention strategies such as the matching law, Premack principle, behavioural momentum, schedules of reinforcement/punishment, and discrimination and matching-to-sample
Course Structure
The course consists of:
- 10 module journals (20% total)
- 10 module quizzes (20% total)
- 1 mid-course exam (invigilated, 30%)
- 1 final exam (invigilated, 30%) Students have six months from the registration date to complete the course, with all exams and assignments to be completed by the designated end date.
Fees and Payments
There is a $150 non-refundable
on-transferable online fee per course in addition to applicable tuition and fees. This fee is non-refundable once the add/drop date has passed within the term the course is registered in.
Prerequisites
The prerequisite for this course is PSYC 2515 or PSYC 3515.
