Summer Health Professions Education Program

Overview

The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer enrichment program aimed at improving access to information and resources for college students interested in health professions.


Goals and Objectives

  • Strengthen academic proficiency and career development of underrepresented students in health professions.
  • Prepare students for successful application and matriculation to health profession schools.

Program Details

  • Focus on essential competencies for successful health professionals.
  • Six-week hybrid program (two weeks virtual, four weeks on-site).
  • Engages students interested in Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, and Pharmacy.
  • Program dates: June 22 - July 31, 2026.

Application Process

  • Application opens November 1st and closes February 5th at 11:59 p.m. ET.
  • Applications accepted through the SHPEP National Program Office (NPO).
  • Encouragement to start building application profiles and requesting letters of recommendation early.
