Summer High School Advanced Research Program (SHARP)

Program Description

The Summer High School Advanced Research Program (SHARP) is a collaborative effort between the Division of Student Success and various departments at UNMC. The program provides hands-on, bench-side research experience for high school students.


Eligibility and Requirements

  • Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents, sophomores or juniors in high school.
  • Applicants must be 16 years or older.
  • International students are not eligible.
  • Other factors considered include cumulative GPA, completion of science courses, and strong letters of recommendation.

Application and Timeline

  • The application for Summer 2026 opens on November 1, 2025.
  • Application deadline is February 1, with admission decisions completed by mid-April.
  • The program starts on June 1, 2026, and ends on August 7, 2026, with a poster session on August 6, 2026.
