Introduction to the iLEAD Program

The iLEAD program, offered by the University of Nebraska Medical Center, is a one-year, applied-learning experience designed for individuals committed to advancing their leadership skills and performance within and outside the organization. This certificate program provides the tools to become an agile, creative, and confident leader, helping participants clarify their deep-rooted sense of purpose and grow beyond the status quo.

Program Overview

iLEAD is designed for UNMC faculty who have a vested interest and desire to expand their leadership skills. The program includes faculty from various colleges, including Allied Health Professions, Dentistry, Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, and Public Health, as well as the Graduate College. The program typically runs in alternating academic years, with a new application period opening in the fall of each year.

What is iLEAD?

iLEAD stands for Interprofessional Leadership for Excellence and Academic Development. It is a certificate program that helps participants become capable, collaborative, and courageous leaders, discovering new and exciting possibilities in healthcare. The program focuses on practical expertise and competencies needed to accelerate careers.

How Does It Work?

Learning in iLEAD is reinforced by an interprofessional leadership community, which removes departmental silos to expand networks and gain insights from a broad cross-section of colleagues. One-on-one and small group peer coaching enrich the experience, offering diverse perspectives, a robust accountability system, and an enduring support network.

Investment

There is a cost associated with iLEAD, which is $3,500 for the yearlong program. This includes continuing education credit, immersive off-site sessions, personal development tools, monthly facilitated small group peer coaching sessions, and all course materials and books. Payment is required only after acceptance to the iLEAD program, and no scholarships are available. Once the program has started, there are no refunds for participants.

The University of Nebraska Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 48.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s), 48.0 ANCC contact hours, and 48.0 ACPE contact hours. Participants should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
