School of Medicine Clinical Electives Program
The School of Medicine Clinical Electives Program is designed for international students in their final year of medical school. The program provides clinical training in various specialties, including internal medicine, surgery, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry, neurology, and geriatrics.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Be in their final year of study at their medical school
- Have completed specific clinical training in internal medicine, surgery, family medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics/gynecology, psychiatry, neurology, and geriatrics
- Demonstrate English language proficiency through TOEFL or IELTS scores
English Language Proficiency
International students whose native language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency through either the TOEFL or the academic format of the IELTS. The TOEFL or IELTS must have been taken within two years of arrival at KU Medical Center. The minimum scores required are:
- TOEFL: 57 overall minimum, 5.0 minimum on essay
- IELTS: overall band score of at least 6.5 with no component band score below 6
- GATEWAY: 475 overall minimum, 425 writing minimum
School of Nursing International Visiting Student Program
The School of Nursing International Visiting Student Program is designed for international nursing students who want to gain clinical experience in the United States.
