Professional Introduction

The Software Engineering major at Southwest University was established in 2002. The university's College of Computer and Information Science was approved as a demonstration software college in Chongqing in 2005 and obtained a master's degree authorization point in Software Engineering in 2011. Since 2004, the university has cooperated with Deakin University to establish a "credit mutual recognition" program, and in 2013, the Software Engineering major became the university's first approved Sino-foreign cooperative education program. In 2020, it was approved as a national first-class undergraduate major construction site and a characteristic demonstration software college in Chongqing. In 2021, the major was rated as A in the Soft Science China University Ranking.

College of Computer and Information Science

The College of Computer and Information Science at Southwest University is a comprehensive college that integrates computer science and technology, software engineering, and automation. It has a history of over 70 years and is one of the first colleges in the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, a characteristic demonstration software college in Chongqing, and a new-type secondary college in Chongqing. The college currently has 170 staff members, including 127 full-time teachers, 26 professors, 65 associate professors, 11 doctoral supervisors, and 60 master's supervisors.

The college has a doctoral degree authorization point in Computer Science and Technology, a postdoctoral research station, a master's degree authorization point in Computer Science and Technology, a master's degree authorization point in Software Engineering, a professional master's degree authorization point in Electronic Information, and a professional master's degree authorization point in Modern Educational Technology. It also has one provincial and ministerial key discipline and one national and local joint engineering research center. Cultivation Goals

The program aims to cultivate internationalized, application-oriented engineering talents who meet the needs of national strategies and economic and social development. The talents should have a solid foundation in mathematics and natural science, engineering basics, professional theory, and professional skills, as well as good scientific quality, humanistic accomplishment, social responsibility, and professional ethics.

Cultivation Modes and Degree Granting

There are two modes of cultivation:

• Mode 1: Students complete the first two years of study at Southwest University and then go to Deakin University to study for one to two years. Upon meeting the requirements of both universities, students will be awarded a bachelor's degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Southwest University, as well as a Bachelor's degree from Deakin University.
• Mode 2: Students complete four years of undergraduate study at Southwest University, with some courses taught in English or bilingual. Upon meeting the graduation requirements, students will be awarded a bachelor's degree and a Bachelor of Engineering degree from Southwest University.

Sino-Australian Degree Certificates

Students who complete the prescribed courses at Southwest University and meet the admission requirements of Deakin University can apply to study at Deakin University and obtain a bachelor's degree from both universities upon completion.

Complete and Smooth Cultivation Mechanism

The two universities have a long history of cooperation, starting with "credit mutual recognition" in 2004 and Sino-foreign cooperative education in 2014. Students who complete two years of study at Southwest University can choose to go to Deakin University to complete their undergraduate studies and obtain a Bachelor's degree from Deakin University.

Excellent Domestic Teaching Level

The Software Engineering major is a national first-class undergraduate major construction site, with strong faculty and excellent teaching quality. Students who choose not to go abroad can receive high-quality education at Southwest University and have a good advantage in further studies and employment.

Admission and Enrollment

The program plans to enroll 120 full-time undergraduate students in 2025. Applicants must participate in the national unified college entrance examination, and the admission plan and batch will be determined by the provincial-level admission and examination authorities.

Tuition Fees and Charges

The tuition fee for studying at Southwest University is 50,000 yuan per year. For studying at Deakin University, students will pay tuition fees according to Deakin University's standards.
