Program Overview


Resilience Training for Students

The Resilience Training for Students is a program designed to help students develop the skills and attitudes necessary to bounce back from challenges and improve their overall well-being. The program is based on the idea that 40% of an individual's level of happiness is under their control, and that by changing their actions and thoughts, they can increase their life satisfaction.


Session Training

The resilience program is available upon request by student groups, staff, and/or faculty. The program covers topics such as mindfulness, optimism, gratitude, self-compassion, and grit, and is designed to help participants build resilience and happiness.


Thriving in Action

Thriving in Action is a program designed to help students who are struggling with academic challenges. The program provides support and guidance to help students improve their academic performance and develop the skills and strategies necessary to succeed.

The program offers a range of single workshops that can be taken individually. These workshops cover topics such as:

Top 10 Tips to Thrive at TMU

This workshop provides students with tips and strategies for thriving at university. Topics covered include the importance of self-care, sleep, exercise, and downtime, as well as how to study effectively and manage time.


Building a Growth Mindset

This workshop focuses on the importance of having a growth mindset in achieving personal and academic success. Participants learn how to cultivate a growth mindset and how to apply it in their daily lives.


Building a Joy Kit

This workshop provides participants with the opportunity to build a "joy kit" - a collection of items that bring them comfort and joy. The workshop covers topics such as how to identify and prioritize self-care activities.


Building Resilience

This workshop focuses on the importance of resilience in achieving academic and personal success. Participants learn how to build resilience through the development of skills such as mindfulness, gratitude, and self-compassion.


Character Strengths and How to Apply Them in Leadership Positions

This workshop helps participants identify their character strengths and learn how to apply them in leadership positions. Topics covered include the importance of leading from strengths and how to empower others.


Emotional Intelligence and How it Impacts Academic Success

This workshop focuses on the importance of emotional intelligence in achieving academic success. Participants learn how to recognize and manage their emotions, as well as how to develop emotional intelligence.


Fast Fixes for Frequent Frustrations; Micro-Resilience Strategies

This workshop provides participants with strategies for managing stress and frustration. Topics covered include uni-tasking, managing the stress cycle, and reframing attitude.


Finding Flow - Intentions and Strategies to Reach Your Optimal Performance

This workshop helps participants identify how to reach their optimal performance state - also known as "flow." Topics covered include how to shape critical external factors and what happens in the brain when in "flow."


Freedom from Fatigue

This workshop focuses on the importance of well-being and how to achieve it. Participants learn how to put wellness into action and bring back a sense of vitality to their daily lives.


Habit Formation and Goal Setting Strategies

This workshop provides participants with strategies for creating new habits and setting goals. Topics covered include how to create a new habit and how to avoid pitfalls.


Procrastination and Mindful Time Management

This workshop helps participants manage procrastination and develop mindful time management skills. Topics covered include how to notice when procrastination is occurring and how to reframe plans to delay tasks.


Sleep as a Learning Strategy

This workshop focuses on the importance of sleep in achieving academic success. Participants learn how sleep can reduce stress and improve cognitive function.
