Image Arts: Film - BFA
The Image Arts: Film degree program at Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) prepares students to master the art of storytelling and engage audiences through the power of the moving image.
Program Overview
Located in the heart of Toronto, Canada's filmmaking capital, students learn by doing and gain practical experience in every aspect of film production, from story development and cinematography to sound design and editing using both digital and analog technologies.

Requirements
This is a Grades-Plus program. Admission decisions for Grades-Plus programs are based on academic performance plus non-academic criteria such as interviews, auditions, essays, and portfolios.
Academic Requirements for Full-Time, 4-Year Program
To be considered for admission, Ontario high school students must meet the following requirements:
- Completion of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD)
- Completion of 6 Grade 12 U or M courses with a minimum overall average of 70%
- Completion of the following required Grade 12 U course with a minimum grade of 70%:
- English/anglais (ENG4U/EAE4U preferred) An overall average of 70% is required for consideration. Due to competition, the average needed for admission can fluctuate each year.

Portfolio
The theme for this year is EPIPHANY.
Part 1: Short Film/Video
Submit a short film/video up to 90 seconds in length, shot in any medium that addresses the theme/concept of EPIPHANY.
Part 2: Submit 3 Examples of Visual Work
Submit 3 examples of any visual work.
Project Outline
Describe a dramatic event from your own life or the life of someone you know that you would like to turn into a short film.
Written Statement
In the form of a short essay, please answer the following questions:
- What single film has most influenced you and why?
- How has that film expanded your notion of what cinema can be?
- How has the film impacted society and/or the art form of cinema?
Resumé
Submit a current resumé outlining your education, work experience, related skills, interests, and any special awards.
