Program Overview

AAS Peer Note-Taking Program

The AAS Peer Note-Taking program is a peer-led note-taking initiative available to students registered with Academic Accommodation Support (AAS) who have peer note-taking approved as an accommodation. This program fosters a collaborative learning environment between students with disabilities, professors, and peer note-takers, supporting a more accessible community.

Program Details

  • The program provides peer note-takers for lecture-based weekly courses where the lecture content is not shared with students online via the course learning management system.
  • Peer note-takers are not provided for courses that post all learning materials online, post lecture videos online, or are labs or tutorials.

Eligibility and Request Process

  • Students can request a peer note-taker for weekly lecture-based courses.
  • The following courses are not eligible for peer note-taker requests:
    • Courses that post all learning materials online
    • Courses that post lecture videos online
    • Labs or tutorials

Program Updates

  • As of Fall 2022, students can select a peer note-taker directly from the AAS Student Portal.
  • If a peer note-taker has already been assigned in a course, students will be assigned to that peer note-taker automatically.

Responsibilities and Guidelines

  • Students are responsible for requesting a peer note-taker and checking the AAS Student Portal regularly for updates.
  • Students should download course notes regularly and save them to their computer or other storage space.
  • It is essential for students to stay in contact with AAS Peer Note-Taking staff and communicate respectfully.

Important Dates

  • Winter 2026 important dates include:
    • Friday, March 13, 2026: Last day to request notes
    • Friday, March 20, 2026: Last day to be matched with a peer note-taker

Program Objective

The AAS Peer Note-Taking program aims to support a more accessible learning environment by providing peer note-takers to students with approved accommodations, thereby fostering a collaborative and inclusive community at the university.
