AAS Peer Note-Taking Program
The AAS Peer Note-Taking program is a peer-led note-taking initiative available to students registered with Academic Accommodation Support (AAS) who have peer note-taking approved as an accommodation. This program fosters a collaborative learning environment between students with disabilities, professors, and peer note-takers, supporting a more accessible community.
Program Details
- The program provides peer note-takers for lecture-based weekly courses where the lecture content is not shared with students online via the course learning management system.
- Peer note-takers are not provided for courses that post all learning materials online, post lecture videos online, or are labs or tutorials.
Eligibility and Request Process
- Students can request a peer note-taker for weekly lecture-based courses.
- The following courses are not eligible for peer note-taker requests:
- Courses that post all learning materials online
- Courses that post lecture videos online
- Labs or tutorials
Program Updates
- As of Fall 2022, students can select a peer note-taker directly from the AAS Student Portal.
- If a peer note-taker has already been assigned in a course, students will be assigned to that peer note-taker automatically.
Responsibilities and Guidelines
- Students are responsible for requesting a peer note-taker and checking the AAS Student Portal regularly for updates.
- Students should download course notes regularly and save them to their computer or other storage space.
- It is essential for students to stay in contact with AAS Peer Note-Taking staff and communicate respectfully.
Important Dates
- Winter 2026 important dates include:
- Friday, March 13, 2026: Last day to request notes
- Friday, March 20, 2026: Last day to be matched with a peer note-taker
