Arts Leadership Program (ALP)
Cultivating Creativity and Critical Thinking on Your Leadership Path
The ALP provides opportunities for Faculty of Arts students to develop strong critical thinking and leadership skills. Participants engage with the university community through volunteering and seminars with various programs.
Term 1: Engage
Start your journey with activities designed to help you engage with campus life, nurture relationships, and develop professional skills.
- Requirement | Description | Credits | Verification
- Starting your Arts Leadership Program Journey! | Attend 3 mandatory sessions at the ALP introductory event. | 2 | Attendance at the event and participation during sessions.
- Building your Public Speaking Skills | Watch a short series of videos and slide decks to build your skills. | 1 | Write a 100-word reflection on what you have learned.
- Tri-Mentoring Program | Partner with the Tri-Mentoring Program and become a mentee/mentor. | 1 | Write a 200-word reflection on your experience.
- ALP: Career Essentials | Attend 2 mandatory ALP Career Essential workshops. | 2 | Attendance and participation during sessions.
- Campus Engagement | Participate in at least 2 campus events by taking on a leadership role/volunteering. | 2 | Write a 250-word reflection and share a picture.
- Professional Relationships | Attend at least 2 networking events with peers, faculty, or professionals. | 2 | Write a reflection and share any pictures from the event.
Term 2: Enact
Build on your skills from the first term and grow your personal network while deepening communication skills.

- ALP: Technical Skills Workshops | Attend 2 mandatory Technical Skills workshops. | 2 | Attendance at the event and participation during sessions.
- Tri-Mentoring Program | Continue partnering with the Tri-Mentoring Program and become a mentee/mentor. | 1 | Write a 250-word reflection on your experience.
- Partner with the Zone Learning | Participate in SOLVE: Skills-to-Impact Hackathons. | 1 | Send a photo during a workshop and post it.
- Community Engagement | Volunteer at a minimum of 2 events or initiatives on campus or in your community. | 2 | Write a 250-word reflection on your experience.
- Public Speaking & Collaboration | Participate in a student conference and/or competition. | 1 | Application and participation in the event.
- Partner with the Zone Learning | Participate in COMMUNICATE: Passion-to-Career Workshops. | 1 | Application and participation in the workshops.
- End of Year Arts Showcase | Showcase your growth and ALP journey at the Arts Showcase. | 2 | Attend the event and share your ALP journey.
Program Completion
Once you've completed the program, you'll receive a certificate.
