The International Law of Security, Peace and Sustainable Development (ILSPSD) program is a unique two-year Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Degree that addresses the global challenges at the intersection of law, peace, security, and sustainability. This program is designed to train the next generation of international lawyers and policymakers to navigate the complexities of the current global "polycrisis."

Program Overview

The ILSPSD program is implemented by a consortium of nine European higher education institutions:

• Leuphana University of LŁneburg
• The Barcelona Institute of International Studies
• The University of Tartu
• The University of Glasgow (CIVIS partner)
• Nova University Lisbon
• The Universitť libre de Bruxelles
  • Along with a global network of 30 associated partners, offering degrees and expertise in international law, political studies, sustainability, and security.

Curriculum and Objectives

The integrated curriculum of the ILSPSD program combines international law with political studies, sustainability, and security. The primary objective is to prepare graduates to understand and shape global governance in this period of instability and transformation. The program focuses on developing holistic and multidisciplinary approaches to address the interrelated issues of armed conflict, terrorism, forced migration, climate change, biodiversity loss, hybrid threats, and democratic backsliding.
