Master in Political Sciences: General (60 credits), option JOUR

The Master in Political Sciences: General (60 credits), option JOUR, is a one-year program offered by the Faculty of Philosophy and Social Sciences. The program is fully taught in English and provides students with a comprehensive understanding of political science, including international relations, EU affairs, politics, and government.

Programme Objectives

The program aims to provide students with:

• An analytical approach based on rigorous methods
• Advanced knowledge in one specific domain of political science
• Writing and public speaking skills in English
• An opening to the world, with a focus on internationalization and diversity

Teaching Team and Methods

The program features active teaching methods, including seminars, individual or group presentations and papers, combined with ex cathedra courses. New technologies and e-learning are also integrated into the teaching methods.

International/Openness

The program offers an international environment, with over 15 different nationalities represented among the faculty and researchers. Approximately 50% of the students are non-Belgian, providing a diverse and global perspective.

Programme's Added Value

The program provides high-quality additional training and/or professional re-orientation, with a focus on internationalization and diversity. Students will have the opportunity to study in an internationally renowned department, with a strong reputation in political science and international relations.

Access Conditions

The access conditions for the program are as follows:

• Full admission rights are granted to holders of a degree obtained in the French-speaking Community of Belgium
• Admission is also granted to holders of a degree obtained outside the French-speaking Community of Belgium, recognized as equivalent
• The program is also open to holders of a degree from a non-University Higher Education Institution (HE or ESA), pursuant to a decision by the academic authorities

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must meet the following requirements:

• Hold a Bachelor's degree in the same field of study (if available), awarded in the French-speaking Community of Belgium, without supplement
• Hold a university Bachelor's or Master's degree, pursuant to a decision by the academic authorities
• Have a sufficient command of English, with a minimum level of B2 (European reference framework)

Programme

The program consists of:

• A compulsory course: Final Dissertation (30 credits)
• A compulsory course: Decision-making in the EU (5 credits)
• A module optionnel, where students choose 25 credits within one of the two following modules: International Relations or Politics and Government
