Master in European Studies - EU-Asia Specialization
The Master in European Studies is a two-year (120 credits) program of excellence on the European Union. The teaching aims to acquire solid knowledge of European integration and develop critical thinking on European issues. It also allows students to interact with European affairs practitioners and begin their professional integration.
Objective of the EU-Asia Specialization
The EU-Asia specialization offers a specialization on the relations between the European Union and Asia. It allows students to validate a double degree from the ULB and Waseda University by spending the first year of the master's program in Brussels and the second year in Tokyo, Japan. Thus, students acquire solid knowledge of the historical, political, legal, economic, and socio-cultural dimensions concerning European integration and regional cooperation in Asia.
Admission Procedure
Eligible Candidates:
The EU-ASIA specialization is open to motivated students who distinguish themselves by the excellence of their academic careers and their manifest interest in European and Asian affairs.
The EU-ASIA specialization only concerns candidates pre-selected by the admission jury, which respects the eligibility criteria set out in the double degree agreement between the ULB and Waseda University.

The application period for the upcoming academic year is closed as of July 1, 2025.
Program Structure
The EU-Asia specialization is taught primarily in English (some courses offered at the ULB are taught in French). The master's program includes a common module of teachings in the fundamental disciplines of European studies (history, law, economics, political science, international relations), as well as specific courses for the EU-Asia specialization, offered by Waseda University.

Students can consider as many different careers as there are European professions. In addition, the EU-Asia specialization allows students to mobilize their specific expertise in matters of relations between the European Union and Asia.
