Introduction to OncoStep

OncoStep is a comprehensive program designed to provide participants with a thorough understanding of oncology, covering the molecular and clinical aspects of the disease. The program is designed for individuals with basic knowledge in biology who wish to develop their understanding of oncology, including:

• Healthcare professionals (nurses, pharmacists, general practitioners, physiotherapists, ergotherapists, psychologists)
• Patients and their families affected by cancer
• Professionals in the (bio)pharmaceutical or biotechnology sectors (project managers, technicians/technologists, researchers, doctoral students)
• Teachers in higher education institutions active in health and biotechnology

Program Structure

The OncoStep program is offered in two formats:

• E-learning: Participants can learn at their own pace through an online platform.
• E-learning + Q&A Session: Combines the e-learning module with a 2-hour Q&A session with an expert.

Curriculum

The program covers the following topics:

• Introduction to cancer: Prevalence, risk factors, and prevention
• Molecular biology and cellular biology refresher
• Molecular oncology: From normal cells to cancer
• Clinical oncology: Diagnosis and treatment

Duration and Language

• Duration: Short (2 to 5 days)
• Language: French

Campus and Accessibility

• The program is offered online, allowing for autonomous learning.
• It is accessible for individuals looking to resume their studies.

Fees

The program fees vary based on the participant's status:

• Doctoral students and ULB hospital institutions: 250
• Public institutions, academics, and ASBL: 350
• Enterprises: 500

Partnerships

The OncoStep program is part of a project to develop a continuous training platform in oncology, funded by the European FEDER fund within the Brussels-Capital Region, and carried by ULB (ONCO-TRA.bru project).

Admission Criteria

Prerequisites

• Basic knowledge in biology
• The program starts with a refresher on molecular and cellular biology, allowing participants to update their knowledge.
