Introduction to the Certificat interuniversitaire européen en éducation aux médias et ŕ la citoyenneté numérique (CEMCN)

The Certificat interuniversitaire européen en Education aux Médias et ŕ la Citoyenneté numérique (CEMCN) is a certificate program designed to enhance the skills necessary for constructing pedagogical projects in the domain of digital citizenship. This certificate is intended for teachers, actors in permanent education, and any other professionals involved in such projects.

  • Admission: Admission is based on a dossier review
  • Schedule: 5 hours of classes per week, held on Saturdays or weekday evenings

Program Content

The CEMCN program is divided into two main units of learning:


Unit 1: Concepts and Tools

This unit includes theoretical courses (cours magistraux) covering a range of topics such as:


  • Contextualization and methodology
  • Media and decoding of media writings
  • Psychosocial approach to media education
  • Legal elements including questions of deontology and ethics
  • Didactics of media and digital citizenship education
  • Theoretical and critical approaches to media education and permanent education
  • Education to digital citizenship
  • The Cliky method

Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to construct pedagogical activities in media and digital citizenship education adapted to their professional context.


Unit 2: Project Development

This unit involves seminars and personal work, focusing on:


  • Transversal project (accompaniment and implementation)
  • Final work of the formation (analysis and perspective of the Transversal Project)

At the end of this unit, students will be capable of implementing pedagogical activities in media and digital citizenship education and developing a critical analysis of these activities.

Partnership

The CEMCN is created in partnership with the University of Ličge and the University of Lille.


Final Work Submission

The final work of the formation (Travail de fin de formation) is to be submitted on specific dates, with options for first and second sessions.
