Program Overview
The Ghana: Clinical and Public Health program provides students with an interdisciplinary clinical and public health opportunity. Partnering with Garden City University College (GCUC) in Ghana, participants will be paired with a GCUC student or other health professionals and engage in clinical experiences and public health research activities while exploring the country's culture and history.

Program Dates
The program dates for Summer 2026 are Saturday, May 23, to Saturday, June 13, 2026. Participants will need to plan to depart the US on May 22 to arrive in Ghana on May 23, and depart Ghana on June 13 with an anticipated arrival in the US on June 14.
Academics
The program recruits students from a wide variety of academic levels, and the course offerings available will depend on a student's class rank at the time of travel. The available courses include:
- IHS 4303: Secondary Data Analysis in Global Health and Development (4 OHIO Undergraduate credits)
- IHS 5303: Secondary Data Analysis in Global Health and Development (4 OHIO Graduate credits)
- OCOM 8911: Global Health Rotation (HCOM Years 3 & 4) A non-credit option is also available for HCOM Years 1 & 2.
Cost and Funding
Cost
The estimated cost for the program is as follows:
- Undergraduate: $9,301 + 3-4 Credits of Summer Athens-Campus Tuition/Fees
- Graduate: $10,851 + 4 Credits of Summer Athens-Campus Tuition/Fees
- HCOM: $10,851
The cost includes:
- SUMMER 2026 Tuition (based on individual Tuition Guarantee or Graduate Program of Study)
- Program Fee (student accommodations, some meals, excursions and activities, and transportation to all program-related activities)
- Study Abroad Administrative Fee
- Estimated Out-of-Pocket Expenses (passport and photos, airfare, extra baggage, meals on travel days, immunizations, visa for entry, required cell phone, incidentals)

Eligibility and Application Requirements
Eligibility
Applicants must have a high school diploma or the equivalent by the start date of the program. Students enrolled in College Credit Plus (CC+) are not eligible for study away programs.
Application Requirements
Applicants are required to submit:
- A personal statement indicating their interest/goals for this particular program
- 2 Professional References who will complete a form
- DARS (required only for undergraduates)
Entry and Exit Requirements
Visa Requirements
U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport when traveling outside of the United States. Some countries also require a visa to legally enter or reside in the country. Proof of Yellow Fever vaccination is required for entry into Ghana.
