The China: Hong Kong Baptist University Exchange program is a study abroad opportunity that allows undergraduate students to immerse themselves in the rich cultural diversity of Hong Kong. Program Details
Overview
Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) is located in the heart of the Kowloon Tong district. HKBU offers undergraduate students a diverse array of study options. There is no foreign language requirement for enrollment at HKBU, and most classes are taught in English.
Living Arrangements
Students are housed in a modern residence hall that can accommodate approximately 1,800 students. When applying to live in the residence hall, students may indicate their preference for a roommate from Hong Kong, mainland China, or another international student to enhance the cultural experience.

Academics
Students are expected to register for a minimum of 12 HKBU credits per semester. They can select from a wide variety of disciplines offering courses taught in English, including Business, Cinema and Television, Communications, Economics, Geography, History, Humanities, Information Systems Management, Journalism, Political Science, Religion, Philosophy, Social Sciences, Sociology, and more. HKBU also offers a variety of Chinese cultural courses as well as beginning and intermediate courses in Mandarin.
Cost
The estimated total cost for the Fall 2026 program is $12,475 + 12-20 Credits of Fall 2025 Athens-Campus Tuition/Fees. This is a tuition-free exchange.

Eligibility
This program is open to undergraduate students of all majors who have a 2.5 GPA. Students who will be on probation at any point during the program for a conduct offense that took place less than a calendar year from the program start date may not study abroad.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- A personal statement: A 1 - 2 page typed essay about yourself, your academic and career interests, and your motivation for studying abroad on this particular program.
- 2 reference letters
- A DARS
- A course list: This program requires a listing of the 8-10 host institution courses that you would be interested in taking while studying overseas and their description.
Applicants must also complete an interview as part of the selection process.
Entry and Exit Requirements
U.S. citizens are required to have a valid U.S. passport when traveling outside of the United States. US citizens will need a visa to enter the country for the length of this program. Students participating in the HKBU summer program will additionally need a short-term, single-entry visa to China. HKBU and the Office of Global Opportunities will advise on the visa process.
