Program Overview
Introduction to the Welding Technology and Engineering Program
The Welding Technology and Engineering major is based on the national key discipline and doctoral program in Materials Science and Engineering. It has developed several distinctive strategic strengths in areas such as microelectronic packaging, advanced welding materials, intelligent welding equipment, laser-based advanced manufacturing, and additive manufacturing.
Cultivation Characteristics
The major adopts a "general education + specialized training" pathway to cultivate interdisciplinary, engineering-oriented, and globally-minded talent. It is dedicated to nurturing high-level innovative professionals who possess both integrity and competence, a solid academic foundation, broad and rich professional knowledge, and well-rounded technical skills. The aim is to enhance graduates' competitiveness in the "advanced, sophisticated, and cutting-edge and emerging" fields of science and technology innovation, meeting the needs of talent development in the new era.
Faculty & Staff
The major boasts over 2,500 square meters of dedicated laboratory space and is equipped with 107 sets of experimental instruments. It has established partnerships for industry-academia-research collaboration, as well as off-campus internship and practical training bases. The major undertakes national key R&D programs, National Natural Science Foundation projects, and major engineering research, and other projects. A four-year undergraduate mentorship system is in place.
