Early Childhood Master of Arts

The Early Childhood Master's Programme is a postgraduate study programme that requires a first university degree. It is an interdisciplinary programme run in cooperation with the Thurgau University of Teacher Education (PHTG). The programme trains specialists equipped to think and work with scientific competence and the ability to prepare knowledge and insights for practical purposes.

Study Structure

  • The programme starts at the beginning of October and usually lasts four semesters.

  • Seminars typically take place on Wednesdays and Fridays.
  • After successfully completing the studies, students are awarded the Master of Arts (MA) in Early Childhood.

Study Requirements

Admission Requirements

  • A qualifying bachelor's degree from a university or teacher training university in psychology, education, social pedagogy, or sports pedagogy, or another related subject.
  • Professional experience in early childhood education of at least 3 months is required or must be gained during an internship.

Fees

  • All students enrolled at the University of Konstanz are charged a semester fee each semester.
  • Tuition fees for first-degree studies apply to certain international students, but students of the Thurgau University of Teacher Education (PHTG) enrolled in the cooperation master's programme "Early Childhood" are exempt.
  • All students are required to pay tuition fees for their second-degree studies.

Required Language Skills

  • International applicants need documentation of their German language skills, level DSH-2 or TestDaF 4.
  • No foreign language skills are required for this master's programme.

Teaching and Examination Language

  • The language usually used in class is German.
  • Coursework and performance assessments may be completed in English or another foreign language, if agreed upon beforehand.

Application

  • All applicants must apply online via the portal of P輐agogische Hochschule Thurgau (PH TG).
  • The application period is from 01.11 to 30.06.
  • There may be other deadlines for admission to a higher semester.
