Program Overview

Introduction to the Kon'Start Program

The Kon'Start program is a preparatory course designed for "First Generation Students" who are about to start their studies at the University of Konstanz. This program aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to university life, helping students navigate the academic environment and develop essential study skills.

Program Details

  • The Kon'Start program will take place from October 5th to 9th, 2026.
  • It is a voluntary program specifically designed for students who are the first in their family to attend university.
  • The program includes a variety of activities such as workshops, networking events, and introductions to the university's culture and study structure.

Eligibility and Participation

  • Participation in the Kon'Start program requires a registration fee of 15 Euros.
  • A total of 50 places are available for "First Generation Students."
  • In cases where more students apply than there are places available, priority will be given to students who meet at least two of the following criteria:
    • Their parents and siblings have not attended university.
    • They have obtained their higher education entrance qualification through a non-traditional path (e.g., evening high school, Deltapr³fung, or professional qualification).
    • They can participate in the entire program, which spans five days.

Program Content

The Kon'Start program offers a diverse range of activities, including:

  • Insights into the teaching and research culture at the University of Konstanz.
  • Introduction to the study structure, including differences between school and university, and the organization of studies.
  • Workshops on study competencies, study organization, efficient learning methods, and study tips.
  • Support services for a successful start to studies.
  • Opportunities for exchange and networking with fellow first-year students from different disciplines.

Important Information for Students in Natural Sciences and Economics

Students planning to enroll in natural sciences Bachelor's programs or the B.Sc. in Economics should note that the Kon'Start program overlaps with certain preparatory courses. Therefore, they must decide which program to attend, as it is not possible to participate in both simultaneously.

Program Schedule and Content

The program is scheduled to take place over five days, from Monday to Friday, and includes a variety of sessions and activities led by experienced educators, including Tina Schray, Gerd Strobel, and Berit Bethke.
