The University of Konstanz offers a preparatory mathematics course for first-semester students.

Vorkurs Mathematik

The three-week mathematics preparatory course is planned from Monday, September 21, to Friday, October 9, 2026. Participation is free of charge and is highly recommended for all first-semester students in the following fields:

• Mathematik (Bachelor of Science)
• Mathematik Lehramt (Bachelor of Education)
• Finanzmathematik
• Nebenfach Mathematik or Nebenfach Statistik
• Physik (with a mathematical orientation)
• Wirtschaftsp‰dagogik with Wahlpflichtfacht Mathematik

Course Description

The preparatory course provides an optimal preparation for the students' upcoming studies. The course content is tailored to the requirements of the lectures in the first semester of the mathematics program and prepares students for the abstract working methods of higher education mathematics. During the course, students will also have the opportunity to get to know their future fellow students and mathematics students from higher semesters, as well as explore the university campus, the city, and the surrounding area.

Participation and Recommendations

Participation in the preparatory course is voluntary but highly recommended for all beginners in the above-mentioned fields. The course is free of charge, and prior registration is requested.
