Program Overview
Master of Education in Mathematics
The Master of Education in Mathematics is a postgraduate degree program designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to teach mathematics at the gymnasium level. This program is part of a three-stage training program for gymnasium teachers, with the Bachelor of Education being the foundational program, followed by the Master of Education, which is a prerequisite for the referendariat.
Program Structure
The Master of Education in Mathematics program requires students to complete modules in the following areas:
- Flexibilisierungsmodule (0-18 ECTS): Students must complete flexibilization modules that were not chosen during the Bachelor of Education program. These modules can be 9 or 18 ECTS, and students who have already completed 18 ECTS of flexibilization modules in the B.Ed. Mathematik program are exempt from this requirement.
- Wahlmodule (12 ECTS): Students must choose elective modules totaling at least 12 ECTS. Modules that were completed during the Bachelor's program or chosen as flexibilization modules are not eligible as elective modules. At least 9 ECTS of elective modules must be chosen from specific modules or from the main modules, specialization modules, or selected elective modules for the Master's program in Mathematics.
- Fachdidaktik (10 ECTS): Students must complete the Fachdidaktik II and Fachdidaktik III courses in the Master of Education program.
