Introduction
The University of Konstanz offers a training program for Konstruktionsmechaniker*in, specializing in steel and metal construction. This program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to work in the field of construction and manufacturing.
Arbeitsgebiet (Work Area)
The work area includes creating constructions from steel, stainless steel, or aluminum, as well as special designs for research equipment. The program focuses on the following areas:
- Creating automatic darkening tents
- Building floats for measurements on the lake
- Constructing shields for X-ray equipment
- Creating vacuum chambers
Special welding and soldering techniques are applied, including:
- WIG welding of stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and other precious metals
- MAG and electrode welding of steel and steel alloys
- Hard and soft soldering of various metals
- Special welding with plasma and laser beam welding

Einstellungsvoraussetzung (Admission Requirements)
The admission requirements include:
- A good secondary school diploma, especially in mathematics, physics, and technology
- Manual skills and the ability to work in a team
Ausbildungsdauer (Training Duration)
The training duration is 3.5 years and can be shortened to 3 years depending on prior knowledge. There are a total of 4 training positions available.

The training takes place in the scientific workshops, department of apparatus construction, with modern equipment, beautiful workshop rooms, and a pleasant working climate.
Pr㘹ungen (Exams)
The final exam consists of two parts:
- Part 1: At the end of the second training year
- Part 2: At the end of the training period
