Program Overview
MA Speech and Language Processing
The MA Speech and Language Processing is a 2-year master's program that focuses on two scientific fields: human language processing and machine language processing. I. General Information
The program is a 2-year master's degree (4 semesters) that requires 120 ECTS credits. It consists of 8 modules, with modules 1-6 forming the core subject area and module 7 being the extension area.
II. Study Structure

The first year (1st and 2nd semesters) should cover modules 1, 2, and 3. Modules 4 and 5 should be taken in the 2nd and 3rd semesters. The extension area of module 7 can be taken over all 4 semesters, and module 6 is recommended for the 3rd or 4th semester.
III. Language Requirements
- English language proficiency: Required for admission, with a level of B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.
- German language proficiency: Expected to be acquired during the master's program for students without prior German knowledge.

- Internships: The program includes a mandatory internship of at least 90 hours (3 ECTS), which can be completed within ongoing projects at the university or at external institutions or companies.
