Program Overview
New Energy Materials and Devices Program
The major in New Energy Materials and Devices is one of the majors related to strategic emerging industries announced by the Ministry of Education in 2010. Our university holds an advantageous position in the materials discipline and is also among the first batch of universities to offer the undergraduate program of New Energy Materials and Devices.
Program Overview
Since mankind entered the 21st century, the demand for energy has been constantly increasing. The development of the world economy has further put forward higher demands for energy. The development of green new energy materials and devices serves as an engine for the development of the national economy and national science and technology. It is also one of the best ways to resolve the contradictions between energy, economic development, and environmental protection, and has now become a high-tech industry driving the rapid and stable development of the world.
Key Areas of Focus
New energy materials are key materials for realizing the conversion and utilization of new energy and advancing new energy technologies. Such materials include:
- Crystalline silicon materials
- Chalcogenide semiconductor materials
- Nanomaterials
- Dielectric materials
- Membrane materials
- Electrolyte materials
- Energy storage materials New energy devices are energy carriers that can directly or after conversion provide energy in any form needed by humans, such as light, electricity, heat, and power. They mainly include energy storage devices for solar energy, chemical energy, wind energy, nuclear energy, biomass energy, etc.
