  • Examine the nature of impurities in waters, their concentrations, and significance
  • Explain the basic principles of water treatment processes
  • Select appropriate processes depending on the nature of the impurities to be removed

  • Classification significance and concentration ranges of impurities in water
  • Physical methods for removing particulates: clarification, filtration
  • Chemical dosing, including precipitation; coagulation and flocculation; disinfection and chemical oxidation
  • Examples of flow sheets and unit operations in treatment plants
