Master's Degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices

The Master's Degree in Contemporary Artistic Practices is a face-to-face postgraduate course aimed at training professionals and experts in contemporary artistic creation. The study plan provides content, skills, and specialized abilities in the production of artistic work in different disciplines of fine arts, with a contemporary and transversal approach.

The Master's aims to train professionals and experts in contemporary artistic creation. The curriculum provides content, skills, and specialized skills in the production of artistic work in different disciplines of fine arts, with a contemporary and transversal approach.


Learning Outcomes

  • Knowledge:
    • Understand the research methods that allow identifying the genealogies of artistic theories and trends.
    • Understand the methodologies of visual and plastic art creation.
    • Critically understand the aesthetic, historical, material, economic, equality, and sustainability values present in contemporary art scenes.
  • Skills:
    • Participate in multidisciplinary teams to solve academic, creative, and professional tasks related to contemporary artistic production.
    • Develop contemporary artistic proposals, both individual and collective, in the various current artistic professions.
  • Competences:
    • Establish links between theories of social and cultural analysis and those applied to artistic works.
    • Identify the keys to artistic representation in current image cultures.

Admission and Enrollment

  • General Access Regulations and Procedures: Information on access and admission of students to master's studies is available.
  • Criteria and Procedure for Admission to the Degree:
    1. Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent.
    2. The specific qualifications that will facilitate access to the Master are Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Degree in Design, Degree in Audiovisual Communication, etc.
    3. Students from non-artistic degree programs must demonstrate that they possess the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in the degree program.
  • Training Complements: The Master's program introduces a supplementary course for students who have not previously completed the specific degrees that grant access to the program.

External Internships

The External Practices subject is a curricular subject whose main objective is to promote a comprehensive training of the student through the practical application of the knowledge acquired during the Master's degree.


Quality Guarantee

  • Internal Quality Assurance System: Manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System.
  • Results Report: Once the monitoring of the Master's Degree has been carried out, the most relevant quantitative information on the results obtained in the monitoring of said Degree is displayed.
  • Improvement Actions: The Quality Assurance System of the Rey Juan Carlos University establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

Renewal of Accreditation

The renewal of the accreditation represents the culmination of the implementation process of the official Bachelor's and Master's degrees registered in the Register of Universities, Centers and Degrees (RUCT).
