Justification
The program is justified by the need for innovative methodologies in education that foster significant learning and the application of the Design Universal for Learning (DUA) in educational settings. It aims to prepare future educators who can effectively address diversity and promote inclusive education.
Development
Objectives
General Objectives
- Create a positive impact on student learning
- Promote the application of DUA as a methodology in primary education classrooms
Specific Objectives
- Foster learning of DUA's didactic implications through experiential learning
- Promote the use of active and innovative pedagogical methodologies
- Include collaborative work as a method of learning and professional development for students
- Utilize game aesthetics and dynamics to implement attractive didactic proposals
Methodology
The project involves an immersive, practical experience based on educational gamification, specifically through a Role-Playing Game (RPG) where students design and manage an inclusive school from a collaborative and creative DIY approach.
Evaluation
Evaluation is conducted through a rubric to assess group work quality and student surveys:
- Initial expectations and self-assessment
- Final learning and experience evaluation Comparison of data to measure the impact on perception, learning, and participation.
Results
- 50 students reported achieving their formative objectives, with 11 not achieving them.
- The majority found the experience surpassed their expectations, valuing its practical nature.
- 36 students rated the course as "very good," 19 as "good," and 6 as "fair."
- Students positively valued teamwork, learning from the teacher's role, and the project's utility.
Conclusion
The experiential approach favored deeper and more motivating learning. Students actively engaged in creating real school management structures, generating a collaborative, reflective, and personalized learning environment that exceeded traditional teaching frameworks.
