Presentation
The Master's Degree in Security, Crisis and Emergency Management is a postgraduate program offered by the Rey Juan Carlos University. The program is designed to provide comprehensive training in public security management, risk assessment and prevention, and crisis and emergency management.
Objectives
The objectives of the program are to:
- Respond to the needs of civil society by providing comprehensive and up-to-date training in public security and crisis and emergency management.
- Allow the development of a career for public security professionals who see their chances of advancement and promotion limited due to the scarce and inadequate academic offer related to their field of action.
- Create operational research models that increase professional knowledge according to the demands for training in prevention and management of security, crises and emergencies.
- Develop vectors of knowledge that allow an immersion in the areas of information, prevention and action, in accordance with social demands and pluralism.
Competences
The program aims to provide students with the following competences:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding that builds on, and goes beyond and beyond, the level typically associated with grades and that provides a foundation or opportunity for originality in the development and/or application of ideas, often in the context of the investigation.
- Be able to apply their knowledge and understanding, as well as their skills, to solve problems in new or unfamiliar settings and in broad (multidisciplinary) contexts relative to their field of study.
- Acquire the ability to integrate knowledge and face complexity and also to formulate judgments based on incomplete or limited information, including the ability to formulate reflections on the social and ethical responsibilities linked to the application of their knowledge and judgments.
- Be able to communicate their conclusions and the knowledge and conceptual framework on which they are based, both to expert and non-expert audiences, clearly and unambiguously.
- Develop learning skills that allow them to continue their studies in a largely self-directed or autonomous manner.
Admission and Enrollment
The requirements for access to the proposed title are according to article 18, of Royal Decree 822/2021, of September 28:
- Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent is a condition for accessing a Master's Degree, or, where appropriate, having another University Master's degree, or titles of the same level as the Spanish Bachelor's or Master's degree issued by universities and higher education institutions in an EHEA country that in that country allow access to Master's degrees.
- In the same way, people in possession of titles from educational systems that are not part of the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, will be able to access a Master's Degree in the Spanish university system, without the need for homologation of the title, but verification by of the university of the level of training that they imply, as long as in the country where said title was issued it allows access to university postgraduate level studies.

External Internships
This master's degree does not plan to carry out External Internships.
Mobility Programs
University Master's degrees, due to their duration and characteristics, in general do not specifically contemplate the mobility of their students. However, the Rey Juan Carlos University has different mobility programs for both students and University workers.
