Program Overview


Master's Degree in Security, Crisis and Emergency Management

The Master's Degree in Security, Crisis and Emergency Management is a postgraduate program designed to provide comprehensive training in public security management, risk assessment, and crisis and emergency management. The program is offered by the Rey Juan Carlos University in collaboration with the Ortega y Gasset Foundation.


Objectives

The objectives of the program are to:


  • Provide broad and multidisciplinary training in public security management, risk assessment, and crisis and emergency management.
  • Develop the skills and competencies of professionals in the field of public security, crisis, and emergency management.
  • Enhance the knowledge and understanding of the complexities and dynamics of security, crisis, and emergency management.

Competences

The program aims to develop the following competences in students:


  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the principles and concepts of public security, crisis, and emergency management.
  • Apply knowledge and understanding to solve problems in new or unfamiliar settings.
  • Communicate conclusions and knowledge to expert and non-expert audiences.
  • Develop learning skills to continue studies in a self-directed or autonomous manner.
  • Acquire generic competences such as analysis and synthesis, organization and planning, oral and written communication, and conflict resolution.

Admission and Enrollment

The requirements for admission to the program are:


  • Possession of an official Spanish Graduate or Graduate university degree or equivalent.
  • Access to the program is open to people with titles from educational systems outside the EHEA, which are equivalent to a Bachelor's degree. The selection of applicants is made by the Head of the Master, and the offer of places is limited to 30.

The program consists of 60 ECTS credits and is designed to be completed in one academic year. The training itinerary includes:
