Introduction to the Master's Degree in European Sports Law

The Master's Degree in European Sports Law is a postgraduate program designed to provide students with specialized knowledge in the field of sports law. The program is offered by the Rey Juan Carlos University and is aimed at students and professionals who wish to acquire a deep understanding of the legal aspects of sports.


Presentation

The program is presented as a response to the growing importance of sports in European society, with the European Union recognizing the significant role of sports in promoting social and economic development. The program's objective is to train professionals who can cover a profile of experts in all areas of sports legislation, within public or private sports institutions, companies involved in the sector, as well as any type of office or cabinet that is dedicated to advising entities and athletes.


Objectives

The main objective of the program is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the legal framework governing sports in Europe. The program aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to advise athletes, sports associations, federations, leagues, and regional and national public entities on legal matters related to sports.

The program consists of eight modules, each covering a specific area of sports law:


  • Module 1: Sports Policy of the European Union (18 hours)
  • Module 2: Sports Organization (38 hours)
  • Module 3: Economic-Financial Management in Sport (72 hours)
  • Module 4: Sports Taxation (52 hours)
  • Module 5: Substantive Aspects of the Sports Relationship (112 hours)
  • Module 6: Legal Regime of Sports Facilities (36 hours)
  • Module 7: Sports Journalism (36 hours)
  • Module 8: Protection of Health and Equality (36 hours)
