Program Overview
Specialist in Journalism and Political Analysis
The Specialist in Journalism and Political Analysis program is designed to contribute to the training of future informants and political analysts. Its fundamental objective is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to understand and analyze political reality, power-media relations, political leadership, and the distribution of powers from the perspective of communication and journalism.
Presentation
Politics is a central topic of interest to citizens who demand professional, useful, and truthful information on a daily basis. The importance of politics makes political issues occupy prominent spaces in the different media. Press, radio, television, and internet cover events of social, political, and public interest, occupying large news spaces.
Objectives
The title of Specialist that is presented seeks to address the contents and tools necessary to successfully cover the performance of journalistic and communicative tasks specialized in politics. Training political analysts is also a priority objective of this course, and not only preparing political informants and communicators.
Programme
The program consists of several modules:
- Module A. Spanish Political and Electoral System: Study of the main Spanish political institutions, the political party system in Spain, and the Spanish electoral system.
- Module B. Political Journalism: Specialized writing, journalistic genres in radio and television, local and regional political information, national information, international information, professional routines of political journalists, and social media and politics.
- Module C. Political Communication: Communications administration and spokespersons, electoral campaigns and political marketing, and political communication strategies.
Recipients
The program is aimed at journalism professionals who want to specialize in politics, consulting staff, analysis cabinets who want to expand their training in political information and communication, and graduates or graduates in journalism, sociology, political science, history, philosophy, and any degree in social and legal sciences and humanities.
Access Requirements
This training, at MECES 3 level, is aimed at students who have a previous university degree. Students enrolled in a Bachelor's or Double Degree who have a maximum of 30 ECTS credits of an official university degree in Spain whose profile matches the functions legally provided for in the corresponding field will be able to access conditionally.
Selection Criteria
In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following objectively weighted criteria:
- Curriculum Vitae: 70%
- Experience in the sector: 30%

The program has 30 places available, with a minimum of 10 students required to start the course.

Duration and Development
The program is offered in-person, with 31 credits, 310 contact hours, and a duration from April 10, 2026, to December 18, 2026.
Reservation of Place and Enrollment
The pre-registration period is from October 1, 2025, to March 19, 2026, and the enrollment deadline is from March 20, 2026, to March 27, 2026. The title price is 2000€, and there is no scholarship possibility.

The applicant must submit the following documentation:
- National Identity Document or equivalent
- University Degree of the studies that give access to the requested postgraduate degree
- Curriculum vitae
- Responsible declaration of veracity of the data provided in digital format
- Any other document required by the Academic Department of Continuing Education for acceptance
