Introduction to the Master's Degree in Intelligence Analyst

The Master's Degree in Intelligence Analyst is a postgraduate program offered by the Chair of Intelligence Services and Democratic Systems, in collaboration with the Carlos III University of Madrid. This program has been recognized as the national benchmark for postgraduate training in Intelligence Analysis.

Objectives

The primary objective of the Master's Degree in Intelligence Analyst is to train professionals capable of working as analysts in intelligence production units, particularly in the field of competitive and business intelligence. The program aims to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to reduce uncertainty in the decision-making process and position themselves better and safer against competitors.

Competences

The program focuses on developing the following competences:

• Identify and analyze the information needs of an organization linked to its strategic objectives
• Obtain, process, and interpret precious information resources to satisfy information needs
• Apply techniques, regulations, and auxiliary instruments necessary for the production of strategic analysis
• Manage information technologies essential for obtaining open information, preparing reports, and managing and protecting knowledge
• Plan, design, and implement intelligence units, preferably in the field of economic and business intelligence
• Plan, design, and carry out a project to obtain and analyze strategic information within an intelligence organization

The program consists of the following subject modules:

• Module I: Introduction. Fundamentals of Intelligence
• Module II: Management and planning
• Module III: Obtaining information
• Module IV: Intelligence analysis
• Module V: Dissemination and Communication
• Module VI: Competitive Intelligence

Recipients

The program is designed for university graduates and intelligence and security professionals, as well as members of State Security Forces and Bodies and the Armed Forces. Exceptionally, students without a previous university degree may be admitted if they can demonstrate work experience in the world of intelligence and analysis.

Selection Criteria

In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following objectively weighted criteria:

1. Academic background: 40%
2. Professional experience: 40%
3. Aptitudes: 20%

Number of Places

The program has a minimum of 20 and a maximum of 40 students.

Quality Guarantee

The program is subject to an internal quality assurance system, which includes a manual of the Internal Quality Assurance System and a composition of the commission.

Results Report

The program's results are reported annually, including quantitative information on the results obtained in the follow-up of the degree.

General Information Collection Plan

The quality assurance system of the Rey Juan Carlos University includes surveys on student profile, teacher evaluation, degree of satisfaction, labor insertion, and external internships.

Improvement Actions

The Quality Assurance System establishes that the degree's Quality Assurance Commission will annually analyze the information derived from the degree's indicators and prepare a report that will include improvement plans if the results so indicate.

International Students

The program is also open to international students, who must submit additional documentation, including a passport or residence card, foreign Higher Education Degree, and a curriculum vitae.
