Program Overview
Specialist in Journalism and Political Analysis
The Specialist in Journalism and Political Analysis program is designed to contribute to the training of future informants and political analysts. Its fundamental objective is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to understand and analyze political reality, power-media relations, political leadership, and the distribution of powers from the perspective of communication and journalism.
Presentation
Politics is a central topic of interest to citizens who demand professional, useful, and truthful information on a daily basis. The importance of politics makes it occupy prominent spaces in different media, including press, radio, television, and the internet. A third of the press contents deal with political issues, and the internet has become a platform for political parties, organizations, and social movements to express themselves.
Objectives
The title of Specialist in Journalism and Political Analysis seeks to address the contents and tools necessary to successfully cover the performance of journalistic and communicative tasks specialized in politics. Training political analysts is also a priority objective of this course, in addition to preparing political informants and communicators.

Module A: Spanish Political and Electoral System
This module covers the study of the main Spanish political institutions, the political party system in Spain, and the Spanish electoral system.
Module B: Political Journalism
This module includes:
- B1: Specialized writing: Informative, interpretive, and opinion genres in the press
- B2: Journalistic Genres in Radio and Television
- B3: Local and regional political information
- B4: National Information
- B5: International Information
- B6: Professional routines of political journalists
- B7: Social Media and Politics
Module C: Political Communication
This module covers:
- C1: Communications Administration and Spokespersons
- C2: Electoral Campaigns and Political Marketing
- C3: Political Communication Strategies
Recipients
The program is aimed at journalism professionals who want to specialize in politics, consulting staff, analysis cabinets who want to expand their training in political information and communication, and graduates in journalism, sociology, political science, history, philosophy, and other degrees in social and legal sciences and humanities.
Access Requirements
This training is aimed at students who have a previous university degree. Students with a degree obtained from a Spanish university or a Higher Education Institution belonging to another Member State of the European Higher Education Area that provides access to continuing education courses must submit specific documentation.
Selection Criteria
In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following objectively weighted criteria:

- Experience in the sector (30%)

The program offers 30 places, with a minimum of 10 students required to start the course.

Duration and Development
The program is offered in-person, with 31 credits, 310 contact hours, starting on April 10, 2026, and finishing on December 18, 2026.
Reservation of Place and Enrollment
The pre-registration period is from October 1, 2025, to March 19, 2026, and the enrollment deadline is from March 20, 2026, to March 27, 2026. The title price is 2000€, and there is no scholarship possibility.
