Program Overview


Presentation

The Sports Director Expert in Football course is designed to meet the training demand in the field of sports management, specifically in football clubs. This need arises from the professionalization of high-performance sports clubs and the levels of training and sports technification. The Law of Sports Professions has established the functions and competences of technical directors, defining the necessary training framework for their qualification.


Objectives

The main objective of the course is to train professionals in sports management within the field of football, improving and strengthening the structures of football clubs and the professional and personal skills of their sports managers. Completion of this course will allow students to acquire the basic skills of a sports director.


Competences

The course aims to provide students with the necessary competences to manage football clubs effectively, including skills in institutional management, human resources management, legal and financial management, sports planning, and methodological direction in football.


Programme

The course consists of six modules:


  • Module 1: The sports director. Skills and professional profile (14 hours)
  • Module 2: Institutional management and human resources management in a football club (14 hours)
  • Module 3: Legal and financial management (8 hours)
  • Module 4: Sports planning and methodological direction in football (32 hours)
  • Module 5: Communication, marketing, and new technologies (12 hours)
  • Module 6: Final Project (0 hours)

Recipients

Students must possess at least one of the following degrees:


  1. Soccer Coach with level I, II, or III federative diploma, basic, advanced, or professional coaching course, or UEFA B, A, and PRO.
  2. Graduates in Physical Activity and Sports Sciences, with a football federation degree. The academic committee of the master's degree may admit candidates with professional or academic profiles closely linked to football, demonstrating the necessary knowledge and skills to make the most of the course.

Selection Criteria

In the event that the number of applications exceeds the number of places offered, a selection will be made based on the following criteria:


  1. Members of the Coaches Committee of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
  2. Professional soccer experience.
  3. Degrees related to football.

  • Academic Director: Mr. Alexander Gil Arias, Sports Studies Center, King Juan Carlos University.
  • Co-Director: Mr. Josep Sansó Nicolau, Director of the National School of Trainers, Royal Spanish Football Federation.

Teaching Staff

The teaching staff includes:


  • University staff from King Juan Carlos University.
  • Teaching staff not belonging to the URJC, including professionals from the Royal Spanish Football Federation and other institutions.

Duration and Development

  • Modality: In-person.
  • Number of credits: 8.
  • Contact hours: 80.
  • Place of delivery: Las Rozas Football City, headquarters of the Royal Spanish Football Federation.
  • Opening hours: 10 sessions on Monday, 10:00 - 13:45 / 15:00 - 18:45.
  • Start date: February 7.
  • Finish date: April 5, 2022.

Reservation of Place and Enrollment

  • Pre-registration period: November 2, 2021, to January 20, 2022.
  • Enrollment deadline: January 21 to February 6, 2022.
  • Title price: 3000 Euros.
  • Possibility of scholarship: There is no possibility of scholarship.
