Program Overview

Missouri University of Science and Technology

The university offers various programs for students, including the Global Engineering Program.

Global Engineering Program

The Global Engineering Program is a five-year dual degree program.

Financial Aid for Years 1-3

In the first three years of the program, students participate in regular classes and activities on campus. Financial aid during these years is the same as for domestic students attending the university.

  • Students are encouraged to apply for scholarships and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) each year to qualify for financial aid.
  • Incoming students can apply for various scholarships.
  • The university's scholarship database, Scholarship Universe, offers competitive opportunities for students to apply for each year.
  • To continue receiving scholarships, students must meet the renewal criteria for university or other scholarships.
  • Submitting the FAFSA by February 1st each year allows students to be considered for the most possible aid, including federal grants, loans, and work-study, as well as state and university aid.

Financial Aid for Year 4

During the fourth year, students travel abroad to complete a year of studies and internships.

  • The first half of the year involves studying abroad at partner institutions in different countries.
  • Various aid programs are available while studying abroad, including:
    • Scholarships on Scholarship Universe
    • Federal or other need-based aid by completing the FAFSA
    • Reviewing scholarship renewal criteria for currently received scholarships
    • Applying for study abroad-specific scholarships, such as:
      • Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
      • Gilman-McCain Scholarship
      • Various other scholarship programs
  • Students must complete a study abroad worksheet as part of preparing for study abroad.
  • Additional information on financing study abroad is available.

Deadlines for Applying for Study Abroad

  • Summer Session, Fall Semester, or Academic Year: February 15
  • Spring Semester: September 15

International Internship Program

During the second half of the fourth year, students participate in an international internship.

Financial Aid for Year 5

Students in the Global Engineering Program have a fifth year to complete their dual degree program.

  • Most scholarships are eligible for 8 semesters.
  • Students who originally received an automatic merit scholarship and maintained a 3.00 cumulative GPA by the end of their fourth year qualify for a scholarship equivalent to their automatic merit scholarship (up to $7,000 for the year or $3,500 per semester) for the fifth year.
  • Additional scholarships are available through Scholarship Universe.
  • Students can still qualify for eligible federal and state financial aid by submitting the FAFSA.
  • Completing the FAFSA by February 1st each year allows students to be considered for the most possible aid.
